Day 1: Entebbe - Buyala

Your Experience Curator will welcome you upon your arrival at Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport and transport you to Masheda Palms Resort, offering a relaxing atmosphere among historical traditional-style buildings and classic interior furnishing. Shake off the stress of air travel with a refreshing nature walk and learn about the traditional architectural designs of the cottages.

Day 2: Buyala - Mityana

Rise and shine! After breakfast, head off to Entanda Cultural Adventure in Kijjude Village for a full day of authentic, immersive experiences. You will be welcomed with a Kiganda dance, and have the opportunity to learn the local instruments, sing folk songs, and dance to the melodies creating a jovial welcome.

Sample an assortment of fresh fruits from a local farmer’s garden, followed by a hands-on cooking class in a local home. Learn how to make matooke, a traditional Ugandan dish, by first heading into the garden to hand-pick the freshest vegetables and bananas. Your host will guide you through the sauce and food preparation as you peel, wrap, and steam matooke in banana leaves, and open up and pound ground nuts into paste to make a delicious sauce. Sit down to your very own Ugandan meal and savour the flavour of your hard work!

Wrap up your day by planting a tree to help offset your carbon footprint.

Day 3: Mityana - Fort Portal region

Enjoy a scenic drive to the region of Fort Portal, arriving at your accommodation in time for a tasty Ugandan lunch. An afternoon visit to the Isunga Cultural Community introduces a feast for your eyes and ears with traditional Bakiga and Batooro music and dance. Follow this with a feast to your taste buds with an insightful cooking experience in local Fort Portal cuisine. Visit the local market to source the choicest ingredients, then let your host guide you to winnow, roast, and ground the millet to make millet bread. Enjoy your freshly made meal served in millet baskets.

Spend a restful evening at your accommodation, with breathtaking views of the Kibale Forest National Park.

Day 4: Kibale Forest National Park

Head early to Kibale Forest National Park for a morning of chimpanzee tracking. The experienced park guides will lead you into the shady forest in search of habituated chimpanzees. Once a family group is located, you will watch in wonder as the primates feed, play, and take care of their young ones (maximum of one hour).

After returning to your lodge for lunch, spend the afternoon on a coffee plantation. A local coffee farmer will enlighten you on the local techniques of raising a nursery bed, and you have the opportunity to pick some coffee beans. Your host will then guide you through the selection, roasting and pounding process, leaving you with your very own cup of java to savour.

Day 5: Fort Portal region

Today is dedicated to the exploration of the Fort Portal region, located in the Rift Valley with a backdrop of the picturesque Rwenzori Mountains. Begin your day with a visit to Sir Gerald Portal Monument, the British Consul General from whom the city derived its name.

Enjoy a guided walk to Sempaya Hot Springs, a locale off the beaten track in Semliki National Park. Explore both the female and male springs (as they are called), discover the healing properties, and try your hand at boiling eggs and green bananas in the hot geyser.

On your way back, stop by Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru, a set of hidden stalactite caves with a gruesome local legend.

Lunch in the city of Fort Portal, followed by an afternoon excursion to the Tooro Royal Palace, the seat of the traditional Kingdom of Tooro and epicentre of its people’s cultural norms and heritage.

Day 6: Fort Portal region

Wake up in time to take breathtaking pictures of the rising sun amongst the backdrop of a lush tea plantation. Experience the tea production from start to finish, as you wander the fields handpicking leaves, bicycle through the estate and to a local tea factory where green tea leaves are transformed into 30~50 kilo bags of processed tea. There will be opportunity to purchase these authentic Ugandan tea to remind you of your amazing adventure upon your return home.

Return to your accommodation for lunch, and an afternoon of leisure.

Day 7: Fort Portal - Kampala

Spend the morning en route to Kampala, the capital of Uganda. After lunch, the afternoon is yours to spend at leisure. Go for a stroll, relax poolside with a drink, or massage your tension away at the spa.

Day 8: Kampala
Day 8: Kampala

Today is a day to discover the diversity of faith in Uganda, and Kampala boasts a multitude of historic sites of architectural significance. Your first stop is Uganda Martyrs Shrine Namugongo, a famous Catholic pilgrimage destination. Reflect on the lives and executions of the steadfast Ugandan Christian martyrs as you are guided through the basilica and museum.

Explore the Baha’i faith at the only temple of its kind to be built in Africa. The surrounding areas of this unique architectural marvel offer a peaceful environment and magnificant views of Kampala.

Driving back to the city centre, your final stop is elegant Gaddafi Mosque. Scale the 304 steps up the minaret for a stunning view of the seven hills that originally formed the city of Kampala.

Day 9: Kampala - Entebbe

Visit a jewelry workshop owned and operated by local women entrepreneurs, who handcraft accessories out of locally sourced raw materials. Through a 3~4 hour beading class, learn how to make earrings, necklaces, and bracelets out of recycled paper materials and take home your very own creation.

Stroll the markets and browse the different craft shops to find your perfect souvenirs. Homemade baskets, paintings, batiks… the choice is endless.

Transfer to Entebbe for your dinner and accommodation, as you enjoy your final night in Uganda.

Your Experience Curator will safely transfer you to Entebbe International Airport in time for your departing flight home.
