Move Afrika: Rwanda with Kendrick Lamar - a celebration of music and cultures

Kendrick Lamar is set to take the spotlight at a forthcoming festival hosted by Global Citizen, titled Move Afrika: Rwanda. The highly anticipated event is scheduled for December 6 at the BK Arena in Kigali, the vibrant capital of Rwanda. This inaugural show kicks off a larger series of festivals that will traverse the African continent in the years ahead. Lamar, along with Dave Free’s company, pgLang, will be at the helm of curating Move Afrika: Rwanda, as well as subsequent Move Afrika events slated until 2028.

Move Afrika: A Global Citizen Experience has been introduced with a noble aim: to foster job creation and entrepreneurial prospects throughout Africa. Its vision is to engage local talents, vendors, crews, and agencies while igniting investment interest within the indigenous communities. The Rwanda chapter of this concert series is a collaborative effort with the Rwanda Development Board, firmly establishing Kigali as the annual host for the next five years. Each year will see a new country added to the touring circuit, aiming to encompass five nations by 2025.

Tshepo Mahloele, the Africa patron of Global Citizen, expressed his deep commitment to these causes, emphasizing the imperative need to combat health inequality, poverty, and promote gender empowerment. Mahloele underscored the significance of Global Citizen’s renewed focus on these crucial matters and hailed Move Afrika: Rwanda as a catalyst in keeping Africa at the forefront of global consciousness.

pgLang, sharing their aspirations for Move Afrika, articulated their mission to inspire local youth and artists to unleash their creative potential. Their vision is to craft an immersive experience that empowers diverse communities and celebrates the rich tapestry of cultures across Africa and worldwide.
